To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada, and the progress on our signature project the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway, we are inviting all Calgarians to do 150 kilometers on the Greenway!

Walk, run, skip, cycle or skate a portion or the entire Greenway, and share your progress and completion with Parks Foundation Calgary. Sign up as an individual or as a team with your family, friends, and/or dogs, and add up everyone’s kilometers traveled throughout the summer. Share photos on social media using #Greenway150 for your chance to win weekly prizes and celebrate with us on September 2nd.

Download and save. You can also download and save this form in your computer. Every time you go on a trip and enter your kilometers the numbers will add up at the bottom. Save your changes and follow instructions at the bottom of the page.


Online. Once you’ve registered you will receive a private link via email that will allow you to add up your Kilometers as an individual or as a team as you complete the challenge. We suggest you save the link in the “bookmarks” in your computer. If you can’t find the link, you can access the registration site and add your email at the bottom where it says: Forgot your private link? The link would be emailed to you.


Passport. You can get a printed copy of our passports (while quantities last) by visiting Parks Foundation Calgary at 225 – 13 AVENUE SOUTHWEST, CALGARY, AB, T2R 1N8 during business hours (Monday- Friday 9AM-4PM).

To know how many kilometers you are doing on a trip, we encourage you to use free apps that you may have be already install in your phone or that you can download. Some examples that we’ve tested are Strava and Runkeeper.

You can also use our custom map on Google that shows marks every 5 kilometers. Please note that this is not 100% accurate, but it is close enough to give you an idea of the number of kilometers that you are running and help you track your progress.

Parks Foundation Official Rules


The Rotary/Mattamy Greenway Summer Challenge (the “Challenge”) is run by Parks Foundation, Calgary (“PFC”, the “Sponsor”) and uses the 138km Rotary/Mattamy Greenway pathway (the “Greenway”). The Rotary/Mattamy Greenway 150 Summer Challenge Event (“Event Day”) takes place on September 2, 2017. Please read these rules carefully prior to pathway use or participation at the Medal Ceremony and/or Event Day. No purchase is necessary to participate or register. The Challenge is open to residents of Calgary and surrounding areas. There is no age limit to participate; dogs are considered family members and can be entered as a participant.

By entering the challenge, participants agree to abide by these Challenge rules:

  1. Registration Period: The registration period for the Challenge begins at 12:01 a.m. Mountain Standard Time (“MST”) on May 15, 2017 and ends at 11:59 p.m. MST on August 28, 2017.
    Challenge Period: The 150 Challenge (“Challenge Period”) beings at 12:00 a.m. MST on June 25, 2017 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on August 28, 2017.
  2. Eligibility: To participate in this Challenge, a registrant must physically complete portions of the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway pathway and record their progress by:
    1. Obtain a Challenge passport from Parks Foundation Calgary, located at 225 – 13 Ave SW Calgary, during regular business hours, or download an electronic copy on and print a copy yourself (“participation record”). Office hours are Monday through Thursday – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday – 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (regular business hours), and closed on all holidays.
    2. Track your progress throughout the summer. Once your 150km challenge has been completed, email or drop off a copy of your participation record to our office located at 225 – 13 Avenue SW or – you must specify which event location you would like attend on September 2, 2017. You will receive an confirmation email from us.
    3. Challenge participants under the age of 18 must obtain parental permission in order to participate in the Challenge.

    Ineligibility: Participants who are unable to use the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway cannot participate in the Challenge.

  3. How To Enter: No purchase necessary. Limit of one (1) entry per participant. You may enter either as an individual, or as a team member. You may not enter the Challenge multiple times. To enter the Challenge, you must:
    1. Visit our website at
    2. Follow the registration steps.
  4. The Sponsor has the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate in the Challenge. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification. All personal and other information requested by and supplied to the Sponsors for the purpose of the Challenge must be truthful, complete, accurate and in no way misleading. The Sponsor reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any participant should such a participant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information.

  5. Prizes: During the Challenge Period, Parks Foundation Calgary will award various prizes on Social Media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) or otherwise. No purchase necessary to participate.
    1. Prizes will be announced on the corresponding Social Media channel or otherwise throughout the Challenge Period.
    2. Prize winners must pick up their prize in person at Parks Foundation Calgary’s office, located at 225 – 13 Avenue SW during regular business hours (see 2a.).
    3. Winners are not entitled to the monetary difference between the actual prize and the stated prize amount.
    4. Winners must accept the prize as awarded and cannot transfer, assign, substitute or redeem the prize for cash.
    5. Any cost or expense incurred by the prize winner in claiming their prize will be the responsibility of the winner.
    6. Winners must pick up their prize within two (2) weeks from award date. If prizes go unclaimed, the prize will be re-drawn for another recipient in a new contest.
  6. Awarding of Medals: One (1) celebratory medal (approximate value of $5) will be awarded to each participant who successfully completes the full 150km along the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway pathway during the specified Challenge time frame which will be awarded to each participant on the Event Day of September 2, 2017. Each participant must register and report their pathway results on and submit their name in full, along with preferred event location prior to award.
    1. Participants are not entitled to the monetary difference between actual medal value and stated approximate medal value.
    2. Although pets can be entered as participants, they will not be awarded a medal.
    3. Medals must be accepted as awarded and cannot be transferred, assigned, substituted or redeemed for cash. Any costs or expenses incurred by the medal recipient in claiming their medal will be the responsibility of the participant.
    4. All participants who complete 150km along the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway between June 25, 2017 and August 31, 2017 (check end date) must declare their results via email to no later than 12:00 pm, August 28, 2017 in order to receive a medal.
    5. Participants are required to complete 150km along the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway one (1) time. Any additional kilometres cannot be used to claim additional medals.
    6. Participants who complete the Challenge must register online ( in order to receive a medal. Medals will not be mailed to participants if they are not able to attend the Event Day (September 2, 2017). Medals can be collected in person at Parks Foundation, Calgary during regular business hours if the participant is unable to attend the Award Ceremony. Medals will be kept for four (4) weeks after the event date. Medals not picked up will be discarded.
    7. Participant acknowledges there is a limited number of award medals; medals will be awarded to participants who complete the Greenway and send in their confirmation information online or send hardcopies into the PFC office confirming Challenge completion. Medals will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
    8. For those taking the challenge as a team, you can combine your kilometers to reach the goal and obtain a group medal. Only one (1) medal will be awarded per team. Teams can provide members names to to receive a certificate of participation for each team member.
  7. Releases: All participants who complete portions of and/or the full 150km Rotary/Mattamy Greenway Challenge, register for a medal and/or attend the Event Day waive any and all liability related to the Challenge and accept any/all liability for promotional, advertising and/or publicity purposes in any media, known throughout the world in perpetuity, without compensation or notice to, or further consent of, the participant to the extent permitted by law. Photographic Images, Video Content, and/or Quotes directly related to the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway 150km Challenge, Events prior to the Event Day on September 2, 2017 can be used for promotional purposes on our website (, website (, Social Media Channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), Marketing Materials, and/or other Media-related (TV/radio).
  8. Pathway Rules: All participants acknowledge that they accept full responsibility of using the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway pathway and/or adjoining City of Calgary Pathways and abide by usage rules: participants must use their own safety equipment and abide by the speed limits. Some of the pathway is re-routed onto adjacent roadways and user accepts full responsibility of using re-routed pathways.
  9. Indemnity: By entering the Challenge, participants hold harmless the Sponsor, Challenge partners and supporters, and Rotary/Mattamy Greenway donors (“Supporters”; “Partners”) from all claims, liabilities, injuries (personal injury, death, property damage and/or loss), releases (claims of publicity, rights of privacy, defamation, copyright and/or trademark infringement).
  10. Limitation of Liability: Parks Foundation, Calgary and the Greenway Supporters and Partners assume no responsibility or liability for incomplete, lost, late or misdirected Challenge completion entries or for any technical (computer, online, telephone, mobile phone, software) difficulties or malfunctions that affect participant registration or Challenge completion registration. PFC, Greenway Supporters and Partners are not responsible for any inaccurate information reported and trust the Challenge participant(s) are truthfully responding, furthermore, PFC is not responsible for any damage, charges, overages or related mobile/technical billing bestowed upon Challenge participants while completing the 150 Summer Challenge. PFC assumes no responsibility or liability in the event that the Challenge or awarding of medals cannot proceed as planned for any reason including technical problems (fraud, technical failures, computer virus or bugs, security).
  11. Conduct: By entering the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway Challenge, the participant(s) agree to be bound by these Challenge Rules, which will be made available during the Challenge period online at The participant(s) agree to be bound by the decisions of the Sponsors, which shall be final and binding in all respects. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant found to be: (a) violating the Contest Rules; (b) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process for the Challenge at their discretion.
  12. Privacy & Use of Personal Information: All Participants grant the Sponsor the right to: (a) use his or her personal information for the purpose of administering the Challenge (b) use his or her name, photograph, likeness, voice, medal registrant information and/or biographical information for publicity and promotional purposes without further compensation unless prohibited by law; and (c) use his or her name and his or her respective city and province of residence in connection with the Challenge website (, other related websites ( and/or any other media now known or hereafter devised. Personal information will not be provided to any third party other than as provided for in these Challenge Rules. The Sponsor will use personal information only for purposes related to this Challenge and will be required to protect all personal information in a manner that is consistent with Parks Foundation, Calgary’s Privacy Policy.
  13. Intellectual Property: All intellectual property, including but not limited to logos, web pages, web information, designs, drawings, illustrations, trademarks, trade names, promotional materials, taglines and other graphic/marketing representations are owned by the Sponsor. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized use of any copyrighted material or intellectual property without the express written consent of the owner is strictly prohibited.
  14. Termination: The Sponsor reserves the right, to cancel, amend, modify or terminate all or any portion of the Challenge and this document as they see fit at any time for any reason without prior notice.
  15. Law: These are official Contest Rules. This Contest is subject to applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. These Challenge Rules are subject to change without notice in order to comply with any applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws or the policy of any other entity having jurisdiction over the Sponsor.
  16. Privacy Policy: Parks Foundation, Calgary respects your privacy. Your personal information will be protected and will never be sold or shared with third parties. Our goal is to keep you updated with current projects, news, and relevant information. By submitting this personal information to us, you are consenting to its use and disclosure for the following purposes:
    • Meeting safety, security, legal and regulatory requirements for the Challenge Event Day;
    • Providing you with general information, promotions, and event updates;
    • Maintaining the accuracy of our records;
    • To contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you.
